NFL Films is a treasure trove of footage for all things pro football.  Though the Sabol family were primarily NFL fans, they still shot a lot of AFL film under their offshoot of AFL Films.  In recent years they have released some of that film in several different documentaries.

This clip covers a handful of subjects, some of the frivolous (facial hair restrictions), and others more thought-provoking (the AFL’s acceptance of African-American athletes).  What I enjoy the most in this clip is the beautiful, full color footage of AFL games and players.  The vast majority of AFL photographs that I encounter were shot or developed in black and white.  It is a real treat to see anything AFL-related in full color.

Take five minutes out of your morning to enjoy this bit of AFL fun.  It is worth the time.
