Having so many professional football fan sites on the internet is incredibly helpful for posting daily articles about the American Football League.
I found this interesting piece on silverandblackpride.com about the very first game in what developed into perhaps the AFL’s greatest rivalry – the Oakland Raiders vs. the Kansas City Chiefs (then Dallas Texans).
The ARTICLE is a neat little glimpse back at a game 53 years ago. The only downside? The photo used in the article shows Dallas Texans star Abner Haynes running the ball in a game against the Boston Patriots, not the Oakland Raiders.

Even if they’re only battling to stay out of last place in the AFC West, if the Chiefs and Raiders are on TV, I’m watching.
The strange part of the picture is that it from a Raider web site. The site talks a lot about Kezar stadium being used for but logic dictates the pic was the Cotton Bowl. I guess they really wanted emphasize the Dallas Texans.
