I was reading through a reproduction of a 1960 Boston Patriots media guide that I have when I came across The Boston Patriots Marching Song, written by Lee and Jay Morris. I always find these old fight songs interesting. They seem so corny, especially when compared to the music that is played now in stadiums across the country. I hunted all over the internet, and while I found lots of more recent Patriots fight songs, especially those made in preparation for their Super Bowl appearances, I could find no mention of this song. So, do we have any readers who are musicians and would like to play and upload this tune for us?
wonder if Songin, Colclough, Burton Shonta,or Addison, et al. ever sang them?,,,,,
Sadly, Chris, Shonta is the only one of those guys still around to ask. But he reads Tales, so maybe he will let us know.
I don’t think it’s that great. Probably why no one ever heard (or sang) it. Wrong key for this melody to be sung by average voices, unless you sang like Jerry Vale or Dennis Day(Those around during that time period will understand). Large intervals would also make it difficult to sing correctly. I’d give it a C+.
Here’s a link to the Dallas Texans fight song. While most fight songs stress strength and valor, this one brags about the Texans’abundance of “zing”.

The lyrics were changed when the Texans moved to KC, but the zing remained.
